Greetings from Toronto Canada
I have eaten at EAT 17 - many times for someone from Toronto and each and every time it was one of the nicest meals ever eaten. And I must add over the years so not just the recent three times in April and May of this year - 2012. The service is second to none, the prices spot on for the excellent quality and quantity. The fish - well, I don't think it could be more perfectly cooked, then there is the lamb... So for what is is worth, from a bloke from the Colonies...I love this place and will be back! Don't even hesitate if you have not been, your life is not complete until you have visited here.
Cheers

Roni's bagels are the best. I buy here every time I am in London from the north of England (about three or four times a year) and take home and freeze. Then it's smoked salmon on cream cheese toasted bagels - yum yum

Without doubt this was the worst meal I have ever eaten. Our steak was a rough piece of scrag end. We had to ask for cutlery after our meal was served and it was just thrown on to the table. The desserts were all frozen, so we gave them a miss. So, no wine, no starter. no dessert: just steak with extruded potato chips, came to just over £100. for 4. I know people who go every week and rave about it. Well we did rave but in a slightly different way. Oh. the bare table was sticky.

Mexican food in Vienna -you must have been desperate! Doesn't say much for the local delicacies. When I visited a couple of years ago at least I plumped for Viennese grub including various schnitzel compositions, as boring as they tended to be.
You're right, the city is pretty imperial looking so, on that score, I agree with your old man.
